WHAT MOBILE PAYMENTS CAN LEARN FROM THE ADVERTISING INDUSTRY
The panel is a mobile case study that offers a perspective on how mobile offers with drive mobile payments.
As the mobile payments space has evolved, the industry has coalesced around the idea that mobile wallet adoption by consumers will be driven by additional services and not by replacing plastic cards. The services that consumers will find valuable include loyalty programs and mobile offers targeted by proximity to a store, user preferences and even ‘spend graph’ data. What is typically missing in this discussion is what the buyers – bricks and mortar merchants and product manufacturers who distribute through retail – want from these offers and loyalty programs. In this panel you will hear from key stakeholders from the advertising value chain who have run actual location-based mobile offers programs. Topics that will be covered include the value to merchants, how payments have changed the value equation for mobile offers and loyalty, what it will take to bring the massive CPG and product coupon budgets into mobile, and the future roles of ad agencies and payment networks.
